"Protein Is A Myth" —Adelle Davis Organic Tee

In the 40's and 50's Adelle Davis was a best selling author and considered the most famous nutritionist of her time. She became popular after publishing a book in 1954 called Let's Eat Right to Keep Fit.

In her book, she started the protein myth by theorizing that the human body could not use any incomplete proteins not combined within one hour, and that humans need to combine "incomplete" proteins in order to make "complete" proteins.

This has been proven false, and the human body does have a system for recycling proteins, which it uses to build other proteins that are needed.

There was never any scientific basis behind her theories, some of which were considered dangerous, however her popularity caused a protein craze and the protein myth became a dietary standard, instilling the irrational fear of protein deficiency, which lead people to consume it at excessive rates.

Recent studies suggest that over consumption of protein is what causes diabetes (I forget which type so google it).
