I Pink Triangle NY Organic Tee

It features my "I Pink Triangle NY" design, a play on the iconic "I Love New York" t-shirt that was first introduced on July 15th of 1977.

The downward-pointing pink triangle originated during the 1930s and 1940s in concentration camps as badges that distinguished those imprisoned for being either gay men or trans women.

Reappropriated in the 1970s, it became a symbol of protest against homophobia, eventually being largely adopted by the LGBT community as a popular symbol of pride, queer liberation, and the LGBT movements.

And, that is not a registered trademark symbol that you see in the bottom right corner. Back in 1970, a graphic designer named Tom Doerr chose a particular lower-case letter from the Greek alphabet for the symbol of the New York Chapter of the Gay Activists Alliance, the Lambda λ.

Fast forward to 2025, and I chose the lambda character to replace the registered trademark symbol because of its significance to the LGBT community and New York.

This shirt is made from premium 100% organic cotton, and manufactured in Mexico 🇲🇽 by Econscious of Petaluma, California. The graphic is printed by Apliiq in either Los Angeles, California, or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, using vegan soy based inks.
